2-3 WHEELERS (MOTORCYCLES, TRICYCLES)

The 2- and 3-wheel market is the fastest growing automotive sector. Yet more than any other sector, 2- and 3-wheelers have not been presented with any viable alternative to oil fuel. Despite of the explicit interest of drivers, gas companies and governments in Asia countries NG fueling for 2 wheelers still did not penetrate to this market. This provides an exciting opportunity for Energtek's pioneering solutions.

While the most common vehicles on the road today are 4-wheelers, growth in the 4-wheel market remains low. By contrast, the 2- and 3-wheel market including motorcycles and tricycles is outpacing all other automotive sectors, and is the only automotive sector consistently displaying a high growth rate.

Currently, there are approximately 300 million 2- and 3-wheelers on the road today, with the high majority (85 percent) and highest rate of growth of those vehicles in Asia. In most countries in Asia today, 2-wheelers are the number one means of vehicle transportation.

It is difficult to know the precise number of 2- and 3-wheelers on the road due to unreliable motorcycle registration statistics and very high annual growth. However, in 2006, over 44 million units were sold, and sales growth between 2003-2006 stands at approximately 14 percent per year.

While market penetration is high in certain Asian countries, several countries with large populations including India and China still have a relatively small per capita percentage of 2-wheelers on the road. The market in these countries is expected to grow considerably in the near future.

All these 2- and 3-wheelers cause pollution, hazardous to the local populations and the global environment. Currently CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) motorcycles are not present in the market, even after recent attempts to introduce them in China, India and Argentina.

Until now, the economic challenges of building refueling infrastructure, and the technological challenges of integrating NG motor fuel into motorcycles have prevented the widespread use of CNG to power 2- and 3-wheelers. Energtek's proprietary technology solutions, including CNG Lite and LMP (Low-Pressure Mobile Pipeline) Bulk Transportation, systems are making the use of NG possible in millions of vehicles.
